Working with and alongside the Schenectady Community Compost Project and the Schenectady Urban Farms, the Sycamore Collaborative supports community resilience and sustainability.

Join Community Composting and Urban Farming

Our partnership with the Schenectady Community Compost Project offers us additional opportunities to bring people together, learn from one another, and foster a thriving community in Schenectady. The program was launched in May of 2023 to support the expansion of food scraps recycling and increase sustainable materials management education efforts in Schenectady. Interested in having your food scraps turned into nutrient-rich compost? The Schenectady Community Compost Project is happy to do just that! For more information on compost drop-off locations and getting started, click here.

The Schenectady Urban Farms are community-supported urban farming initiatives in the City of Schenectady. The Sycamore Collaborative serves as the fiscal sponsor of this community effort! The community collaborates in the cultivation of fruits, vegetables, flowers, and herbs, while also tending to honeybees and egg-laying chickens.
